Nelson Aquatic Centre faces another big shut down

Work will start in April next year on ensuring the ageing Nelson Aquatic Centre is ready for the next forty years.

But it does mean another lengthy closure of eight months.

The facility was shut for six months last year to deal with the unexpectedly early ceiling, lighting and sound insulation fix.

As Joe Chirico with the RDCK explains they now need to get on with everything else that was in their master plan.


The work is scheduled to start in April and be done by December.

The $4.5 million price tag is within budget allocations and does not require a referendum.
