Kootenay Lake boat heist foiled

It’s fishing season and but it appears the police were the ones who got the trophy Saturday.

Nelson RCMP took a call about a boat theft in progress from the north shore.

The suspect drove off with the aluminum boat followed by two accomplices in another stolen craft.

But timing is everything when your looking for the big catch.

A Kaslo RCMP officer was contacted on the highway and he in turn relayed communications to two conservation officers who happened to be on the lake doing angling checks.

The three suspects were promptly arrested.
