The Nelson Leafs have sent three players home for violating team rules.

The green and white have parted ways with goaltender Brett Soles and defensemen Brendan Smith and Cody Paivarinta.

Head Coach Dave McLellan says the rules are there for structure and certain players don’t get special treatment because of their on-ice capabilities.

McLellan didn’t shed light on what the three players did but called it serious breaches.

He adds he is currently working to trade Soles and Smith but Paivarinta can’t be moved as he’s a 16 year old.
